Writing or inscribing on Palmyra leaves was a process which was followed by our ancestors since the Vedic system began. Great visionaries of our lands in the ancient times were our great Rishis and sages. They had procured the divine knowledge of looking into and beyond of every aspect in the universe. Along the process, they divulged into the aspect of humans and they could see the path of the souls that emerged on the planet earth. These were then transcribed into the Palmyra leaves in a divine language as a conversation between the divine Lord Shiva and his consort Shakti or as a conversation between Guru and his disciple.

These divine conversations thus revealed about the souls which were ‘birthed then and about the souls that were yet to emerge as well… Their lives and styles and complete path were inscribed on those leaves and they were then stored as sacred bundles. These were the divine Naadi bundles of leaves. The inscriptions on the leaves are revered sacred and divine. The Nadi has the capacity to reveal itself to you only when you Karma (Fate) permit it. “NADI” means the destined time it is believed that your path crosses with it the knowledge about Nadi Astrology and in particular with your Nadi Leaf written thousands of years ago, by ancient Sages only when you are drawn by the Divine forces towards it.

Around the 13th century, these leaves were found lying in the premises of the ancient Vaideeshawaran Temple in Tamil Nadu. The Nayanar community who are the present guardians and custodians of these leaves found them, realized their value and made exact copies of them under the Guidance of the then Tanjore Rulers and have preserved it.

The Nayanars are the only people who have access to those leaves and are also the only community who has been trained for generations to read and interpret these leaves. This whole ancient art of reading and interpreting the leaves have been taught and handed down generations with in the Nayanar community.
